While the world has come to a pause during these stressful times, I thought it would be nice to share some helpful tips and therapeutic tools on how to support yourself during these challenging times.

My favorite go-to herbal blend is the Spasm Calm formula. It was created as an anti-spasmodic for nerve, vascular, and muscle tissues. It contains many wonderful herbs such as Wild Lettuce and Passion Flower. This formula helps to calm the nervous system, aids sleep, and relieves pain.

Flower Essences are another favorite. They work on the subtle energy of the body and can address profound issues of emotional well-being, soul development, and mind-body connection. A go-to formula I like to recommend is “Moonshine Yarrow” by Fox Mountain.

Herbal teas, such as Heal All Tea, will also boost detoxification and help strengthen, rejuvenate, and calm acidic tissues.

Green drinks are another way to help the body balance back out during times of stress. Dandelion greens are usually very easy to find and grow wild. They are 1 of 5 most nutritious vegetables on earth. Also known as “Tooth of the Lion” named for the plants jagged shaped leaves. It is a common “weed” and acts as a blood purifier that aids in the process of filtering and straining wastes from the bloodstream. It is especially useful in helping remove obstructions of the gallbladder, liver, pancreas, and spleen. Dandelion is also used to help clear the body of old emotions such as anger and fear that can be stored in the liver and kidneys. All parts are used and can eat the young leaves and flowers.

Other modalities, such as Deep Belly Breathing (click here) and Pranayama (click here).

Yoga is my way of staying balanced and has been used for thousands of years. It is wonderful for getting the lymphatic system moving and practicing regularly will help you stay grounded in times of stress.  See below for some great poses (with links!).

Featured Food:  Dandelion Greens

Dandelion is a revered and valued herb worldwide.  It’s very low calorie count is counterbalanced by its impressive nutritional profile, which is higher than many vegetables!  A top source of inulin (which feeds friendly bacteria in the colon) this green is also high in many vitamins and minerals.  With a higher vitamin A content than carrots, dandelion also provides ample amounts of Vitamin C, Riboflavin, B6, Thiamin, Calcium, Copper, Manganese and Iron.

While dandelion root is well known for its unmatched ability to heal and support the liver, dandelion greens are specific to strengthening, supporting and tonifying the kidneys.  So whether you are working on general maintenance and support or digging deep into your detoxification, dandelion should be at the top of your herb list!  Enjoy it as greens (salads), tea, added to a green drink, or you can use dried, powdered root as a coffee substitute.
